Freestone County Has No Sheriff Search Box
Freestone County keeps no public search box for warrants. The Sheriff's Office posts a phone contact and a records-request email rather than an active list. Call 903-389-3236 to ask whether a county-held record exists and which court issued it. For an existing record, write to fcsorecords@co.freestone.tx.us. A reply may be limited by law, or the office may point you to the issuing court. Remember that the Sheriff serves more warrants than it issues. A Fairfield, Teague, Wortham, Streetman, or JP matter may stay with that court. So ask which court signed the process and where to confirm its current status. The official Freestone County Sheriff's page lists the office address and contact details. That Freestone County page is a contact channel, not a warrant roster.
The Freestone County Sheriff's page offers contact information only, with no searchable list and no warrant result.
How to Check for a Warrant in Freestone County
Start with the court named on a citation or notice. If the source is unclear, ask the Sheriff to help identify a county-held record. Freestone County has no countywide public warrant portal. A commercial name search cannot replace confirmation from the issuing court.
- Gather the citation or cause number, the court name, the city or precinct, and the date of the last setting.
- For a county-held question, call the Freestone County Sheriff's Office at 903-389-3236 and ask which court owns the record.
- For a felony or district case, contact the District Clerk at 903-389-2534 or the District Court Coordinator at 903-389-4836.
- For a County Court misdemeanor, call the County Clerk at 903-389-2635 or the County Judge's Office at 903-389-3335.
- For traffic or Class C matters, use the JP precinct or city court printed on the citation. The four-precinct directory is on the county's Justice of the Peace page.
- Use DPS or OmniBase only to check a reported failure-to-appear or failure-to-pay hold, then contact the reporting court about the citation.
- If phone records are not enough, make a written request for an existing record. The Sheriff publishes fcsorecords@co.freestone.tx.us for that route.
Ask the Freestone County court whether it calls the process active, served, recalled, quashed, or cleared. Request the next setting and written proof of any payment or court order.
Fairfield Municipal Warrant Process
Fairfield Municipal Court states that it issues warrants. Its plea notice asks for a citation number, a plea, a signature, and a date. Miss that appearance, the court warns, and the result can be conviction, a fine, and an arrest warrant. Use the city court for a Fairfield citation. A JP ticket from the same Freestone County town belongs to the precinct printed on that notice.
Types of Warrants in Freestone County
Different Freestone County courts handle different stages. A missed setting, a new criminal complaint, and an unpaid final judgment each create a different kind of record. Start with the court and the event listed on the notice.
| Process | How It Arises | Freestone Issuer |
|---|---|---|
| Arrest warrant | A magistrate authorizes custody after a sworn complaint or other lawful basis. | District, County, JP, or municipal judge, as the case allows. |
| Bench or FTA warrant | A required appearance is missed or a court order is not followed. | The court that set the matter, including a JP or municipal court. |
| Capias pro fine | A final fine or cost judgment remains unpaid, subject to lower-court safeguards. | JP or municipal court in the Chapter 45A process. |
| Search warrant | A judge authorizes a search for described people, places, or evidence. | A magistrate; this is not an arrest-warrant lookup. |
Texas law and local court forms use more than one label. A Freestone County clerk can say which fits. Ask whether a matter is a pre-judgment arrest or alias warrant, a post-judgment capias pro fine, or another order.
Four Freestone JP Warrant Channels
Traffic and Class C cases in Freestone County are split across Precincts 1 through 4. The precinct printed on the citation controls. It matters more than the town where you live. JP1 and JP3 are separate offices on East Main in Fairfield. JP2 and JP4 use the Teague office cluster, though JP4 contact listings differ. Start with the county's JP directory for a current precinct contact. Call before you travel. An old citation may not match the paper. The Freestone County directory shows the split between precinct offices and routes your call; it is not an individual case database.
Freestone County splits JP cases by precinct. Each clerk can explain that court's payment, hearing, and record process, and one precinct's payment link does not clear a case held by another.
What a Freestone County Warrant Record Shows
The county posts no sample warrant entry online. Freestone County publishes no public list to check. A clerk or the Sheriff may confirm the fields in a particular record, within lawful limits. Treat the fields below as questions to ask, not columns from an online list.
| Number | Ask for the court-assigned citation or cause number: assigned by the issuing court. |
|---|---|
| Issuing court | The district, County Court, JP precinct, or municipal court that entered the process. |
| Type and reason | Ask whether the record says arrest, alias, bench/FTA, capias pro fine, or another process. |
| Amount or bond | Request the current amount and type if the office may release it. No countywide bond schedule was found. |
| Status and service | Ask what active, served, recalled, quashed, or cleared means in that court's system. |
A docket title or payment receipt is not a recall order. Ask the issuing Freestone County clerk how to get written confirmation, and ask when to check again.
Freestone County Uses Stage-Specific Terms
A bench warrant usually follows a missed appearance in a Freestone County court. It is a judge's order. A capias pro fine is different: it follows a judgment for fines or costs, under Texas Chapter 45A in JP and municipal cases. Teague materials also use show-cause and warrant-fee language. Fairfield's notice warns an arrest warrant can follow a missed appearance.
- FTA
- Failure to appear when a court date or notice requires it.
- Capias pro fine
- Post-judgment enforcement process tied to a fine or cost judgment.
- Recall
- The issuing court withdraws its process or sets a new path.
- Quash
- A court sets aside the warrant or process by order.
The court decides which term fits. Do not treat an unpaid Freestone County judgment as a new felony charge, or assume partial payment ends an active process.
Who Issues and Serves Freestone County Warrants
Judges and magistrates issue Freestone County process. A sheriff's deputy, constable, city officer, or other peace officer may serve it. The court that signed the order controls any request to recall or change it, so the serving agency is a separate contact.

Precinct 2's county page describes work with other agencies on arrest warrants and traffic enforcement. It does not claim every Freestone County warrant.
Freestone County Clerks Hold Different Files
Two clerks split the case files in Freestone County. The District Clerk, on the courthouse's fourth floor at 118 E. Commerce, holds the district felony files. The County Clerk, at 103 E. Main, keeps County Court Class A and B misdemeanor records and also handles warrant administration, summonses, bond forfeitures, and commitments. Justices of the peace and the municipal courts keep their own lower-court records. The county's official home page links to both offices, so use it to find current phone numbers. Call the clerk who actually holds the file before you drive over, because a nearby building is not the same record counter. One caution: the home page's property-record search is not a criminal warrant search.
Use the court name on the notice to choose which clerk to call.
What to Do If You Have a Freestone County Warrant
Pin down the issuing court before you pay anything or show up. That Freestone County contact can tell you the process type, the amount due, whether an appearance is required, and what bond applies. Ask whether counsel can arrange a setting or a walk-through. The Sheriff posts no surrender hours or bond-window rules, so phone ahead.
- For a felony or unclear surrender, contact a Texas criminal-defense attorney and the District Clerk or coordinator.
- For a city or JP citation, ask that court whether a reset, hardship hearing, payment plan, or appearance is available.
- For a capias pro fine, ask about Chapter 45A options and any written recall order.
- Keep every receipt or order, then confirm the court and any serving agency updated their records.
Important: A records request does not recall a warrant. Ask the issuing court about a safe next step, and speak with counsel before an uncertain surrender.
Teague Forms Carry Dated Fees
Teague's court handout, dated 2022, includes show-cause, payment-plan, deferred-disposition, and warrant-fee fields. The amounts may not be current. Call the Teague municipal court at 254-739-2553 before relying on any figure. A fee line alone does not show that a Freestone County court recalled a warrant, so also ask for the current status and any signed order.
Public Access to Freestone County Warrant Records
The Texas Public Information Act covers records a governmental body already holds, though release exceptions apply. A request cannot force an office to build a new countywide warrant report. In Freestone County, the Sheriff publishes a request email, while Fairfield uses a separate city form. Ask the clerk whose office holds the file where those warrant records actually sit.
Texas access rules:
Government Code Chapter 552 sets the public-information framework and written-request rules.
Section 552.108 may protect law-enforcement material when release would interfere with an investigation or prosecution.
Family Code Section 58.010 restricts juvenile arrest-warrant and complaint records.
Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 45A sets hardship and recall safeguards for covered lower-court capias pro fine matters.
For the request itself, the OAG explains how to make a written public-information request. Expect active, sealed, or juvenile material to be withheld or redacted in Freestone County.
Freestone OCA Warrant Reporting
Office of Court Administration reports count aggregate court activity. They list no names and no live outstanding-warrant total. A reported case category cannot tell you whether a Freestone County order is still active. Treat a report as background, and call the issuing court for the current status.
Warrant Records by City in Freestone County
Fairfield, Teague, Wortham, and Streetman each list a municipal-court contact, and each city's records stay separate from the others. Kirvin shows up in the population ranking. It lists no municipal court or city police warrant channel, though, so it has no city warrant page in Freestone County.
Teague Warrant Records
3,384 residents in the 2020 Census; city court and police contact at 315 Main.
Fairfield Warrant Records
2,850 residents in the 2020 Census; City Hall Municipal Court handles city citations.
Wortham Warrant Records
980 residents in the 2020 Census; court page lists a clerk-led payment route.
Streetman Warrant Records
248 residents in the 2020 Census; confirm the county named on the citation.
Streetman straddles the line into Navarro County, so confirm jurisdiction with the court before making the trip. The four city pages keep each Freestone County town's forms and limits separate.
Freestone County Dockets Are Not Warrant Lists
The County Court docket page publishes Class C, MRP/regular, and County Court calendars covering 2025 and 2026. A docket shows scheduled court activity, not a person's current warrant status. Note also that the County Clerk's public search centers on property records and offers no warrant or cause-number fields. Read the calendar there, then call the court named on your citation for the warrant question. The Sheriff can tell you which Freestone County office holds the record.
